Ok, I realize this isn’t beer related, but it’s skateboarding…those go hand in hand right?

Levi’s sent a camera crew and some skaters across the new bridge to shoot their latest skating commercial here in Oakland. The commercial itself is an interesting look at the city, set to music by Mastermind. It also features local musicians such as, Deltron 3030, Dan the Automator, and Kid Koala, as characters in the video lending itself to even more local flare. The video is a long commercial for Levi’s, but does a good job of showing off Downtown Oakland. It starts in front of the Fox Theater and Rudy’s, makes it’s way through Chinatown and finishes by the freeway with a little crash and a flourish.

I actually enjoyed the “making of” video more than the real commercial. (Maybe because it doesn’t have any one eating it, like there is in the video…) Hearing what the filmmaker was thinking and how he wanted to represent Oakland was insightful and lends itself to a more fun and interesting look at the city. It made me want to take  up skateboarding…ok maybe that’s a bit of a stretch, but he certainly makes it sound fun to shoot! Which do you like better?
