At the other end of Jack London Square a smaller, newer, and just as awesome, festival will be taking place at Lungomare in partnership with Oaklandish, Drake’s Brewing Company, and Hangar 1 called Town Eats! At Town Eats they will feature $4 drink specials, live music, an Oaklandish pop-up shop, and a 5-way pig roast off on Saturday between the chefs from Lunomare, Chop Bar, alaMar, Haven, and ChowHaus. Cost for a tasting portion of the roast is $4 or you can indulge in an all-you-can-eat plate for $20. A portion of the proceeds from all Town Eats proceeds will go to benefit Planting Justice which is an Oakland-based grassroots organization that focuses on achieving economic, social, and environmental justice for urban residents.

Lastly, on Sunday we celebrate all the wonderfulness that is Oakland and Lake Merrit with Love our Lake Day presented by Oaklavia. Harrison Street, Lakeshore Avenue, and Lake Merritt Boulevard will be closed to allow for “two car-free miles of human powered fun”! There will be dancing, art, walking, bicycling, fitness, food trucks, and a music festival, offered for free. This is a great way to spend a sunny day at Lake Merritt, enjoying Oakland’s awesomeness.
