One of Oakland’s finest displays of art deco design is the Paramount Theatre, the home of the Oakland East Bay Symphony as well as hosting top music performers, variety shows, and theater. This theater opened in 1931 as a “movie palace” but then quickly went into neglect for over thirty years until the Board of Directors for the Oakland Symphony Orchestra Association purchased the building in 1972. The Paramount was restored to it’s original splendor and was soon entered in the National Register of Historic Places.

Experience live concerts, the Oakland East Bay SymphonyOakland Ballet, or some great movie classics at the historic Oakland Paramount Theatre.
