There are so many fun things to do outside in Oakland. Why not take advantage of them this summer?

1.) The parks. There are so many wonderful parks in Oakland from playgrounds, to redwood hikes, to the winding stairways in the hills there are so many excuses to get outside and play in your neighborhood. And, you can get some of the most beautiful views of the bay from the top of the hikes. I highly recommend you pick a weekend and see this incredible place we live in from the perspective of our parks.

2.) Paddle Boarding on the Estuary is a great way to get out on the water in Oakland. At Jack London Square the California Canoe and Kayak company has paddle boarding lessons and of course canoe and kayak rentals. So get out on the water and see our wonderful city from a whole new perspective!

3.) Travel back in time at An Intimate Evening at the Dunsmuir Hellman Estate. Dress in all white, have some great catered food, dance under the stars, and enjoy the beauty of Oakland in the evening.

4.) Tour local wineries. On. A. Bike. East Bay Winery Bike Tours takes you on a 10-14 mile bike ride around the east bay and to 3 or 4 wineries for wine tasting and a picnic lunch. A great excuse to get outside, get some exercise, and drink some local wine.

5.) Lake Merrit is such a good place for an outdoor adventure. From paddle boats to having a picnic or wondering around the gardens, you can’t go wrong getting outside by the lake. We recommend going to the Grand Lake Farmer’s market and taking your yummy food down by the water and enjoying the beauty.
Hope that inspired you to get outside this summer. I think I’m going to have to go hike right now!
