I don’t know if it’s exactly a step back in time to walk into Rudy’s Can’t Fail Cafe, but it is definitely a fun experience. Rudy’s is a little rock and roll, a little 50’s, and a whole lot Oakland. In both the Emeryville and uptown Oakland locations, it’s all about good food, good drinks, and a fantastic atmosphere. They are also open late on the weekends which is super convenient for those late night frolics in downtown Oakland when all you want is some french fries and a milkshake…maybe with some Bailey’s thrown in. The burgers are to die for and they have a different special for every day of the week, I recommend the mac and cheese. Each of the tables is themed with either board games or knick-knacks from different eras which are intriguing in themselves. There is an entire row of Barbie-like dolls dressed in every kind of outfit and costume you can imagine. This wall of dolls ties so nicely into the idea that they are trying to create an atmosphere where people from all walks of life can relax, enjoy a good meal, and have a great time. So if you’re looking for a late night bite, or just a yummy burger don’t hesitate to stop and try out Rudy’s.
