Do you love dessert? We do. So we decided to do some grueling research to see if we could find the best places to grab desert in Oakland. It was awful. We barely survived. ;)

So with no adieu, and in no particular order, here are some of our favorite places to grab a sweet treat.

1). images-1Michel Bistro– If you have not had the creme brulee at Michel get in your car, and go there. Right now. It is exactly how creme brulee should be. Light, fluffy, and not too sweet.

images2.) Marica Restaurant– Now, this is one you have to order when you order your meal, but it is totally worth it. Marica has a Dark Chocolate Souffle Topped with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream that will blow your mind…even if it takes a little longer to cook.

Curbside Creamery is still selling their delicious ice cream and ice cream sandwiches at famer’s market’s and such, but now they have a flag ship in Temescal for your sweet tooth craving.

imgres4). Bittersweet– If chocolate is your thing (especially of the hot variety) then of course you must head to Bittersweet, either on College or in Uptown. They have great seasonal hot chocolate and treats as well as your standard hot chocolate treats. You can’t go wrong here.

imgres-15). Flavor Brigade– If you have lived on the east coast you will have fond memories of Italian Ice or Water Ice (if you lived in Philly. Rita’s forever!). This is not a phenomenon that is readily available on the west coast and is very missed. Flavor Brigade has provided a remedy to that problem. They make fantastic water ice and frozen custard that makes you long for summers by the Atlantic…ok, maybe not.

images-26.) Ramen Shop  Ramen Shop is best known for it’s incredible Ramen, but whenever we recommend that someone go here we also tell them to save room for dessert because the black sesame ice cream is not to be missed. If you are a fan of ice cream sandwiches, tea, and deliciousness, definitely make sure you try desert here!

gingerbread_cupcake7.) Miette Miette Bakery is the perfect place to go for a cupcake/cake fix. They have the most beautiful, simple cakes and adorable cupcakes. You won’t be sorry.

imgres-28.) Lush Gelato There is lots of great gelato all over the East Bay, but there is something very quaint and neighborhood-y about Lush. They are situated in a little corner across the street from the Piedmont Theater and the gelato is delicious! Everything is made from local and organic products and the serving dishes are biodegradable…especially the hand made cones.

all_filled9.) Michael Mischer Chocolates For fantastic, beautiful chocolates look no further than Grand Avenue’s chocolate shop. Michael Mischer Chocolates has incredible hand-crafted artistic chocolate that is absolutely mouth watering.

85-369-410-0-0-FN-lg_53e19dce8645010.) Colonial Donuts/Donut Dolly We couldn’t pick. One is really good when you’re drunk…the other is the height of donut crafting. What is important about Colonial Donuts is that they are open 24 hours a day. So when you need something sweet at 3am…this is where you come. Also, they are super cheap! Donut Dolly, on the other hand, crafts incredible donuts that they fill in front of you. If you want the artisan experience, definitely head to their Temescal location and fall in love.

images-3Bonus (11 sounded weird): Rudy’s Can’t Fail Cafe We couldn’t just leave out Rudy’s. I mean, really now. If a milkshake is what you crave, especially if you prefer it with alcohol mixed in, then you must head to Rudy’s and enjoy the deliciousness that they create there.

We hope your sweet tooth will be satisfied with our choices. We certainly had fun coming up with them! Where else do you go for a sweet treat?
