It’s that time of year folks, Oaktober! The pumpkin spice is coming out in every variety, people are planning Halloween costumes and parties, and the Dimond District is kicking off fall with the ever fun Oaktoberfest.
1. The Beer…duh
With over 50 breweries doling out over 150 beers you are bound to find the one for you. The standard donation of $20 gets you a Oaktoberfest Stein and 4 tickets for 12 oz pours. You can also use that glass to get free tastes of beer as you peruse through the festival.
2. Homebrew Competition
The homebrew competition has already been judged, but you can taste all the entrants in the German-style beer competition in Homebrewers Alley. The winner will be announced at 12pm on the main stage and that person will have their beer brewed by 21st Amendment Brewery. The best part of Homebrewers Alley? All the beer is free as they can’t sell it. But they can give out samples. ;)
3. Dance Competition
The 6th Annual Dancing in the Dimond will feature a 1 v 1 dance battle that is open to the public! It will feature dancers from local dance groups including: Mix’d Ingrdnts, Frsh Dynamix, and the Skyline Highschool Breakers. So bring your game face, your moves, and your sense of fun and join in!
4. Root Biergarden
Located inside the Kid’s Zone will be the Root Biergarten featuring Dryers Ice Cream and a plastic Oaktoberfest Stein. This is a great way to get your kids (or yourself) a fun piece of swag while beating the heat. And who doesn’t like rootbeer floats?
5. Family Friendly
In that same vein, there will be a Kid’s Area with a “Parents’ Chill Zone”. There will be interactive games and crafts as well as demonstrations to keep you and the kids engaged and entertained.
At this year’s Oaktoberfest there is something for everyone, and it is a great way to support our local community while having some fun. Happy Fall everyone! We hope it treats you well!
