Besides the fact the the A’s have been continuously awesome the last few years and have garnered some serious attention lately, we here at LLO think you should take an adventure to The Coliseum and see Oakland A’s for more reasons then their awesome playing abilities.
1. The Fans– Oakland A’s fans are a raucous bunch. They will always let you know how they feel about what is going on in the coliseum. But that is why they are some of the best fans in baseball. They are passionate about their team. Win, fight, or lose they have been through it all with the A’s. And to have made it through the last 10 years you had to be dedicated, because it wasn’t always easy. Now, it’s just plain fun to root for the the green and gold…especially when the guy next to you is ready to chant at the drop of a hat.
2. Eric Sogard’s Glasses– Where else would you have a team who has a major marketing campaign based around #nerdpower? His nerdy, slightly hipster, glasses continue to be a constant draw for fans…made much more powerful by the fact that he is a consistently solid player for the A’s. (Pretty cute too :p)
3. Moneyball is still working for them– Billy Beane and Bob Melvin continue to find great, young, players that work within the club they have already built. And it’s working…again.
4. Team Antics– From cream pies, to Ultimate Warrior costumes, these boys know how to play hard while they work hard. It’s fun to see what boyish antic they will come up with next!
5. Accessibility– Despite the A’s success last year, they are by far the cheapest ticket for awesome sports in the Bay. Depending on the series, you can still go to the park for $8, and sit at field level for $20, which is awesome! Also, BART goes directly there and there’s a big parking lot with (generally) free parking on Tuesdays, or $20 otherwise.
